MSU graduates work in a variety of law firms, including those of District Attorneys, the Commonwealth Attorney General, and the State Attorney General, as well as numerous private law firms and legal departments. As students, students receive instruction from licensed lawyers that are easily accessible inside and outside the classroom. Students also participate in mock trials, working with law firms, judges, public defenders, district attorneys, and nonprofit legal counsel firms throughout Kentucky as part of the internship component of the program. Keep in mind that the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies does not give you the right to practice law. State law prohibits paralegals from practicing law or providing legal advice. Students may refer to Kentucky Supreme Court Rule 3,700 as well as the revised Kentucky Statutes 524,130. In the 2020-2021 academic year, Morehead State University awarded 11 Bachelor of Laws degrees. For this reason, the school has become #63 in popularity of all colleges and universities that offer this degree. This is a four-year program approved by the American Bar Association. It focuses on the legal foundations as well as the application of legal aspects in work-related environments. This program allows students to develop paralegal skills on a practical basis. MSU currently has four law degree students attending the top 25 law schools with full or partial scholarships. Since 2010, 100% of those who applied to one or more law schools have been accepted. The Bachelor of Paralegal Studies is designed to equip graduates with the appropriate applied and theoretical knowledge of law to successfully assist lawyers in providing legal services to clients. The major combines the benefits of a humanities education with the development of the professional skills needed to provide legal assistance to lawyers in law firms, businesses, and government agencies. The paralegal curriculum has been approved by the American Bar Association for paralegal education.

Of the 11 Morehead State University students graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2021, 45 percent were men and 55 percent were women. This is a dual program that prepares students to work as paralegals or attend law school. The program is among the 25% of the country recognized by the American Bar Association.

The program begins with an introductory study of the U.S. government as well as an introduction to the field of paralegals. There is a wide range of courses ranging from legal research to court proceedings. Students also have the opportunity to develop computer skills through this program at the University of Kentucky. The program is rigorous in developing the legal knowledge and skills required by the profession. About 100% of 2021 graduates fell into this category.

The program consists of an internship where students have the opportunity to work in the law firm. They are exposed to real experiences. « I meet my graduates because they are my peers and it`s so rewarding to see them succeed, » Murphy added. « Professors are a bridge to get students where they want to go. And when I see them at the courthouse, in the certificate room and at professional meetings, that bridge has worked well and they have succeeded. Morehead State University recently launched a minor program in legal studies. The Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies is ranked eighth by Study.com for the top Bachelor of Laws degrees, citing tuition, acceptance and graduation rates, and placement and career services.
